Well, I have severely neglected my blog, especially when I speak about our beloved Moringa. Life get SO BUSY sometimes, and the urgent often takes precedence over the important.
Our Moringa trees are thriving, although they did not like the cold snaps that we have had recently, here in Florida. It "sort-of" confuses them, and the leaves turn yellowish, and curl up. As soon as we have a few nice days, when the weather is warm, they recover.
At present, both our Moringa Oleifera trees, and our Moringa Stenopetala trees are baffled, as they don't know if they should grow, or go into hibernation!
We love their bright, green leaves, and the way we feel when we eat them. When we cannot eat the fresh leaves, due to time constraints, or cool weather, we eat our organic Moringa leaf powder, instead!
Here is how the leaves are supposed to look:
Ours don't look quite like that, right now...
Hopefully, the weather will warm up, and STAY warm, and then we will have our deep green leaves back, again!
If you are not familiar with Moringa, take a few minutes to educate yourself about the intense nutrition contained in their little leaves. Our main website is: I Love Moringa and we also have Moringa Matters
Both of them are filled with lots of information about our very favorite tree - the Moringa tree!

How To Eat Moringa, How To Plant Moringa, and a lot of other How-To's
We have hundreds of thousands of words, online - about Moringa. To save everyone a lot of aggravation, and time, we consolidated several articles on Moringa in one place. The main thing, about Moringa of any kind - Moringa Oleifera, Moringa Stenopetala, Moringa Ovalifolia, or any other variety - is: you need to start eating it!
Recently, we heard that someone was able to keep his diabetes under control, by eating two Moringa seeds a day. Has anyone else had this experience? If so, please let us know. We are fairly easy to find, online.

We Grow Moringa Oleifera and Moringa Stenopetala in Florida
When the weather is warm, above 70°F, plant your Moringa seeds. They grow so fast, that you can start harvesting leaves within two weeks of planting. Now, THAT, is if you live in a very temperate climate. Where the weather is cooler, it will take a bit longer, but once those Moringa seedlings take off - you will be hard pressed to keep up with their bounty.
Should you live in the northern part of the US, you can, with a little bit of extra planning and care, grow Moringa, too! If you have access to a greenhouse - you are "set". They love humidity and heat, and thrive on the sunshine. If you do not, you can prune them back severely, and keep them in large potting containers, with an ample supply of plant lights.
Since Moringa leaves provide all the essential amino acids necessary for human life, a Moringa tree growing on your property, can provide excellent nourishment to you, year-round. For more about growing Moringa trees, eating Moringa leaves, pruning Moringa trees, and how to add Moringa to your diet, check out the links below:
Read about Moringa, and see how it can enhance your diet, and beautify your yard - you'll love it!
How Do You Prune Moringa Trees?
From seed, a Moringa Tree can easily grow 20 feet tall, within a year - given the proper growing conditions. That makes for a difficult harvest! They just reach for the sunlight, with all of their might, and before you know it - the leaves are out of your reach.
Listen up - it does not have to "go that way"! There is a very simple process involved, for keeping any Moringa tree pruned to a reasonable height, and here it is --- pinch or chop off, every other top growth, and always, always - prune from the top!
Once our little Moringa seedlings are about 12 inches tall, I start pinching off every other top growth of leaves. That encourages Moringa leaves to sprout out, all down the trunk of the seedling. You can do that many times, while the seedlings are still in their pots, and before long - the trunk gets "woody".
If you do not pinch off every other growth, you will have a very tall, spindly Moringa seedling - which grows into a very tall, spindly Moringa tree. That is not conducive to easily getting your hands on the Moringa buds, blossoms, and leaves.
Once the Moringa seedlings are about 18 inches tall, I start chopping the branches in half, lengthwise. We strip off the leaves, and eat them, or dry them, for future use. You must trim them this way, or all you will have, is an extremely tall tree - with its harvest waving up in the air, far above your head.
With Moringa trees of any variety, the more you prune them, the better they grow - and the stronger the tree!

Does Anyone Else Feed Their Guinea Pigs Moringa?
- fresh water
- top quality guinea pig pellets
- dark, leafy greens
- no iceberg lettuce - ever
- small tidbits of fruit
- Vitamin C in their food or water
we decided to try something else. His little body was just not "behaving" like most guinea pigs' would.
Because I grow Moringa, and it is used in some countries for animal fodder, I thought it certainly wouldn't hurt anything, to feed him some. The only other time I had seen a rapid decline in health in any of our other guinea pigs, was when I was very, very young, and fed one of mine a lot of iceberg lettuce. She developed diarrhea - fast - and died. I learned my lesson.
I thought it would be easy to find references online, to people feeding their guinea pigs Moringa, but I was mistaken. Because it grows in the Philippines, in India, in Guam - just to name a few of the countries, and people there have guinea pigs, I expected to find references galore! I could not find any. There was no place that said people feed their guinea pigs Moringa - so I really was leery of giving him any of it. He was in such bad shape, though, I thought anything was worth a try. Almost fearfully, I tendered some fresh Moringa Oleifera leaves to our sick little guinea pig. He liked that - a lot! He ate them rapidly, and started to show a bit of interest in life. I then gave him some of our dried Moringa leaves. That was devoured, also - stems and all.
So far, our little guy is looking good. I know we are not "out of the water" yet, with him. His digestive tract is just "screwy". Time will tell. We hope he completely recovers, and thrives, as both my husband and I just love him!
What I would like to know, is - does anyone else feed their guinea pigs Moringa?

How to Grow a Moringa Tree
How to Grow a Moringa Tree
from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit
For edible landscaping, a Moringa tree is hard to beat. This versatile tree can be ground year-round in any tropical climate, and as an annual in temperate zones. Fast-growing, nutritious, and lovely to behold, Moringa is gaining in popularity daily. What could be easier than walking into your yard, and gathering healthy greens to put on the table?
Steps
- Obtain some Moringa seeds from one of the many fine sources that sell them. There are several varieties, but the seeds of Moringa Oleifera and Moringa Stenopetala are the easiest to obtain. For a fast-growing tree that will bear leaves, blossoms and seed pods - called drumsticks, the first year - choose Moringa Oleifera. If you want a fast-growing tree with much larger leaves, making the task of gathering them for a meal easier, opt for Moringa Stenopetala. The flowers and seed pods take longer to develop on the African variety of Moringa - Moringa Stenopetala. Moringa Oleifera seeds are round, brown, and winged. Moringa Stenopetala seeds, out of their husk, are almond-shaped and light tan in color. The seeds are very different, but they both grow Moringa trees. In actuality, the seeds are basically the same size; but, you can see they are not alike, in appearance.
- Decide where you would like to grow your Moringa tree. Keep in mind that Moringa trees can grow over 20 feet tall, their first year. The average growth is about 15 feet, however, in optimum conditions, they can grow much taller. Because the branches will grow, on the average, to about three to four feet wide the first year, you will need to consider whether you want to plant your Moringa tree close to any existing structures. Moringas need a lot of sunlight, warmth, and water, in order to thrive - so think about where your tree will obtain the best exposure to the sun.
- Get the best organic potting soil that you can find. Moringas do not like heavy, clay-like soil or vermiculite. They will grow in poor soil, sandy soil, and depleted soil, but they do not like their roots getting wet. Bear this in mind, and if necessary, purchase sand to add to the potting soil mixture, or use whatever soil is available in your area, and add coconut coir, peat moss, perlite, or sand to loosen it. This gives the roots of the Moringa tree room to spread out, go deep, and drain well.
- Make a hole in the soil, and plant the Moringa seeds about ¾" to 1" deep, cover with soil, and tamp it into place. Make a note of when you planted the seed or seeds, so you can monitor their growth. Once you have covered the seeds, thoroughly water the soil. Whether you plant the seeds in pots, or right into the ground, they will need a thorough soaking every day, until you see the seedling emerge from the soil. Once they have sprouted, they can be watered once every other day, until they are about 18 inches tall. Then, once a week will be sufficient. Some people soak the seeds in water until they sprout, and then plant them. This method also works, but Moringa seeds are very hardy, and do not really need this additional step.
- Moringa can be grow as a solitary tree, in rows, or as a hedge. If you would like to grow it as a hedge, plant the seeds into the ground, about 1 foot apart. Pinch back every other new leaf growth, to force the tree to grow like a bush, and once they are about 2 feet tall, cut the branches in half lengthwise, and pinch back the new leaf growth that will sprout out at the top of the Moringa tree. If you are going to grow your Moringas in rows, then plant the seeds about 3 feet apart, in rows that are at least 6 feet apart, for easy weed removal and walking through the rows. If you are going to grow your Moringa as a solitary tree, just remember to give it plenty of room, so its branches can spread out. Periodically, cut back the top of the tree, to encourage new growth, and cut the branches' length back, by half. This will insure that your Moringas thrive, and give you lots of beautiful flowers, edible leaves, and drumsticks - for years to come.
Tips
- The leaves are edible, and there are many places, online, that will tell you how to incorporate them into your diet.
- The leaves are edible, and there are many places, online, that will tell you how to incorporate them into your diet.
- The flowers buds and blossoms can be cooked slightly and eaten, as a nourishing vegetable.
- Keep those pruning shears handy, as the more you prune them, the faster they will grow.
- Maintain your Moringa tree at a height of about 6 feet maximum, if you wish to be able to reach its harvest.
Warnings
- Worldwide, some people eat the root. Do not eat the root. It tastes like horseradish, but the root's bark contains a powerful neurotoxin. In large enough quantities, it can be fatal. Leave the roots alone.

Things You'll Need
- Moringa seeds.

Our Moringa trees and the Florida winter

Well... the COLD weather December 2009 and January 2010 certainly didn't do our Moringa trees any good! They have survived, but they need the sunlight and the warm weather, to thrive. Supposedly, the Moringas will drop their leaves if the temperatures average 50°F or below. Ours didn't, but they lost a lot of leaves when the temperatures got into the 30's!We grow and sell Moringa trees, so you can buy Moringa Oleifera seeds, Moringa Stenopetala seeds, Moringa Oleifera seedlings, Moringa Stenopetala seedlings, and Moringa Leaf Powder from us online, right here in sunny Florida. All of our Moringas are organically grown, using no chemicals or fertilizers, other than a really good organic one.
~~~~~~~~
Many people ask us how to grow Moringa. Well, if you live where the weather is tropical, you grow them in the ground, year-round. If you live where winter brings freezing temperatures, you can grow Moringa as an annual - plant it in the spring, when the ground is warm, eat the harvest from it all summer long, and when the temperatures get into the 50's, dig it up and bring it inside for the winter. Alternatively, you can just let it go in the winter, and plant fresh seeds the next year.
Morey the Moringa Oleifera Seed
Hi! I am Morey, the Moringa Oleifera seed. I grow into a beautiful tree, that can sustain life! My little bright, green leaves are just jam-packed with nutritional benefits, and they can help you stay healthy - a lot! Everyone says they taste really good, too!
At Moringa Manor, and I Love Moringa, and Moringa Matters, you can read all about the tree that I become, and I hope you fall in love with me, because I have helped to overcome malnutrition in many countries, all over the world!
My owners grow me in Florida, and sometimes it gets really cold, especially in the last few years. I look funny then, but as soon as it warms up, I spring right back to life. I am one of the most rapidly growing trees in the world, given the right conditions, but you can cut me WAY back, and prune my branches severely, and I will just "get back up" and grow, again! You know what they say - "you can't keep a good man down." I try really hard to live up to that, and my brother and sister Moringa Oleifera seeds, and all of our relatives just "take a beating" and come back!
Why don't you do your health a favor, and check out Moringa for yourself? My owners love to eat the leaves from my trees, because they just burst with flavor and health benefits. You can cook the leaves, too - just a little bit - like when you sauté something, or bake me on pizza, right under the cheese, or put me in quiche, or dip, or --- whatever! My buds and flowers are scrumptious, too - but you HAVE to cook them, before you eat them. Many people like to eat my pods, but get 'em when they are about the size of a green bean, or they get a little "woody". Once in a while, my owners will fry my seeds, that grow in my LONG pods, and put a little garlic salt on them, and eat them. They are really GOOD, but they are also very purifying to your body, so take it easy if you decide to do that!
In some places, people eat my ROOTS, too - BUT DON'T DO THAT! They taste just like horseradish - that's why one of my nicknames is "the horseradish tree". I don't want you to eat my roots, because the BARK contains a neurotoxin, that can be potentially VERY dangerous. If you want horseradish, grow horseradish.
Well, that's about enough for now. Come see us at our websites, you'll find me easily. You'll also meet "Stan", the Moringa Stenopetala seed. He hails from African, where his tree is called "Mother's helper". Stan is one of my relatives, but I am the first copyrighted character of the owners. They admittedly like "Stan's" leaves better, JUST because you don't have to pick as many of them to get a meal, but I am their first love, and they are "kinda" partial to me.
Moringa - I Love Moringa!
http://www.ilovemoringa.com/
Moringa - botanical name - Moringacea, is also called "Mother's best friend", the Drumstick tree, the Horseradish tree, and the Miracle Tree. It is one of the fastest growing trees you can plant, and it packs a powerhouse of nutrition in its leaves, flowers, pods, and seeds. Here is a photo of one of our Moringa oleifera seeds, that we have affectionately named "Morey"...
He has become very near and dear to our hearts, as he helps us educate people about the wond
ers of the Moringa oleifera tree. We grow 3 varieties - Moringa stenopetala, Moringa oleifera, and Moringa ovalifolia, on a small scale. They are such beautiful trees, and supply a constant harvest of delicious nutrition. You can eat the leaves, the flowers - if you cook them - and the long, green pods. This is a photo of one of our Moringa oleifera trees, a young one...
In the raw leaves, Moringa packs more Vitamin C - gram for gram - than oranges, which almost everyone thinks are the best source of Vitamin C. It provides more potassium - gram for gram - than bananas, again - what everyone usually thinks of as having the most. It contains more calcium than milk - gram for gram - and THAT is in LEAVES! The leaves contain contain all 8 of the essential amino acids necessary for life, and that is rare indeed in the plant kingdom. Quinoa does also, a marvelous grain, and so do amaranth, another incredible grain. Very few other things in the vegetable kingdom can boast so many health benefits.
In India and Africa, and a few other places in the world, Moringa is being successfully used to combat malnutrition and disease. Many mothers have been able to carry their infants to full-term, and they give birth to healthy babies. There are documented incidents of malnourished children, deprived of proper nutrition almost to the point of death, who have revived and thrived, by adding Moringa leaf powder to their diet. Seeds from Moringa trees have been used to purify drinking water. They have the capacity to remove over 99% of the bacteria and turbidity, by merely crushing them, and agitating the resulting powder in the water for several minutes. What a valuable tree!
Our favorite way to eat Moringa, is to strip the leaves off several branches, and lightly steam them for a few minutes, until they are tender, add a touch of seasoning (garlic salt or Spike is what we usually use), a bit of butter, and enjoy! Pick plenty of leaves, because they cook WAY down, like fresh spinach does. Put them in omelets, salads, soups, dips, or just eat them raw, right off the trees. The beautiful flowers, which bees LOVE, have to be cooked - they taste like mushrooms. The pods taste a bit like asparagus, and the seeds can be lightly roasted in a skillet, with a touch of oil and salt, and taste like - roasted seeds. WELL... I don't know what else to compare them to!
We currently have about 400 Moringa trees growing here in Florida. They are young, but they are growing up "real fast"! Just in the last 6 months, I have stripped about ½ of the leaves off most of the trees, so we could eat them. The more you pinch the tops, and cut the branches in ½, the faster they bush out, and produce more leaves. Moringa thrives in temperatures between 70°and 95°, but they can withstand 115° for short periods of time. They may lose all of their leaves when the temperature drop below 60°, consistently, but only temperatures below 40° really harm them. You can successfully grow them in large containers inside, and put them out when the temperatures warm up.
Even though most of the varieties of Moringa can grow into very tall trees, in order to keep the bountiful harvest within arm's reach, they should be pruned back to about 5½ - 6 feet. The tops can be taken off, repeatedly, and they will branch out along the trunk, and give you a wide canopy of bright green leaves, wonderfully fragrant white flowers, edible green pods, and seeds galore!
We hope you enjoy Moringa as much as we do!
WHERE ARE THE WARRIORS?
In addition to a severe lack of faith in God, there is a world-wide dearth of the truth.
Never before, have I seen such absolute apathy, pure perversion, and wanton wimpiness. Does anyone read the Word of God anymore? Do you know that Jesus LIVES? Are you not aware that we are in the throes of spiritual warfare, and God needs WARRIORS?!?!? Since when do WOMEN lead the congregations, and what has happened to our MEN? Is anybody out there who still knows how to put on the whole armor of God, take up arms, swagger into the battle, and put the enemy to flight? How much leaven are you going to swallow?
Lord, HELP US! We have fake healers, imitating the miracles of God for filthy lucre - fake "Super Apostolic Ministries" (and I use the term loosely) sucking people into their congregations with promises of privileged revelations - "gold dust" falling in "church" services - "gemstones" falling from the sky - "disappearing diamonds" - "gateways" (those are DEMON portals) - "gold" teeth being put in people's mouths - and doctrines of devils. Wake up, CHURCH! You are asleep in the light!
Then, we have "The Purpose Driven Life", "The Prayer of Jabez", "The Praying Everything", "Boundaries in Marriage" --- all swallowed hook, line and sinker by the Body of Christ, and passed around, discussed, taught on, and promoted as though they were another gospel! I am here to declare that the Church is WAY OFF COURSE, driven by every wind of doctrine, and not very effective against the enemy.
Ever since the NIV gained preeminence in the Bible industry, I have seen more and more watered-down, milk-toast preaching (not where I fellowship), and more self-centered, self-promoting, self-protecting, selfish people leading congregations right down the path to destruction. If God intended for His people to spend their precious time:
- discovering their "ministry" and gifts
- retracing their past for inner healing
- fixing everything wrong with everyone else
- looking "inward" to discover our "higher consciousness"
- examining our "belly buttons" (which is what it amounts to)
Then, why didn't Jesus teach us that by His example?
There was a time, not in our lifetime, when people unashamedly stood up for the truth. WHERE are the warriors? It is my contention that my generation, and the younger generation, have been lulled to sleep by "The Inevitability of Gradualness" principle. The phenomenon is implemented thusly...
- Lightly grasp a bit of skin underneath your arm, with your thumb and index finger.
- Now, slowly squeeze applying steady, even pressure, until the thumb and finger almost meet together.
- Hold that pressure for a few seconds.
- Slowly release the pressure, and let go of the skin.
- Now, quickly apply the same amount of pressure, as fast as you can.
- Hurts, doesn't it?
Another example that women who have had children will relate to:
- Contractions start out slow and easy and gentle - some so gentle as to not be felt.
- As labor progresses, the intensity and duration increase to an incredible level.
- Right before the baby is born, is an incredibly strong, sudden increase in pressure.
- Generally, shortly thereafter, the baby is born, in a tremendous release of pressure.
- If the hardest contractions were felt immediately, at the onset of labor, it would appear to be almost unbearable - but they creep up gradually.
Little by little, our nation has been subjected to more and more lies, more and more control, and more and more decadence. The Inevitability of Gradualness concept has been implemented skillfully, so that attitudes and behavior that would once have been totally unacceptable, are the norm in our society today.
The television has become nothing more than a training ground for divorce and selfishness. Psychologically, our men have been gelded. The all-pervasive atmosphere in movies and television, is that the women and children rule, and the men are stupid. Oh, you don't believe me? Wake up, and pay attention!
I couldn't tell you how many times I have heard women (of which I am one) say to me, in my business - "I'm so glad to see women in charge." (Well, I'm not glad!) I hear - "Well, if you want a job done right, get a woman to do it!" (Excuse me - what is that supposed to mean?) I hear - "There aren't any good men around." (What a lie!)
Mom rules the roost, Mom wears the pants, Mom leads, and Dad follows. What an upside-down society we have! Aren't there any women left out there, who want a strong husband with noble values, to admire and respect? I own and run a business, and as a widow for 10 years, I would have LOVED to have a husband to share things with, to ask his opinion, listen to it, and ACT upon it. (Thank the Lord, He sent me one, in February of 2009!) All of this responsibility is for the birds! The females need to wake up, and treat the men as though they are the ones to be followed, not the other way around.
I am literally sick of my own sex treating men like they are eunuchs, or the pariahs of society. There is nothing more admirable than an honest, upright husband who guides and protects his family. Strong men make strong families, who make strong communities, who make strong nations. Over and over, I see wives leaving their husbands, not because they are drinking, not because they are cheating on them, not because they are involved in drugs, not because they are beating them. The wives leave, because they want to "find themselves" (Whatever that is supposed to mean!) or because they say "I'm my own person" (Aren't we all?) or because they "want space". (Then, they shouldn't have gotten married).
For all of you Christian wives out there who are persuing this course of action - may the Lord have mercy on your souls! I don't care WHAT the mindset of the media is, or the mindset of the majority! We Christians are supposed to let the same mind be in us, that is in Christ Jesus, who made Himself a servant for His Bride. Whether you like it or not, the husband is to be the head of the wife, and the wife is supposed to reverence her husband.
While I am on the subject --- allow me to address another issue, to Christian wives. Unless you wish to rewrite the Bible, you have engaged in some wicked activity if you have ever "plead a headache" or used any other excuse, to avoid being intimate with your husband. The wife's body is made for the husband, and the husband's body for the wife. The Word says that you do NOT have control of your own body - the husband does, and he does NOT have control over his body, the wife does. If you somehow think that you are not in trouble with God for playing what I call "sex head games" with your husband - you are deceived, deluded, and in deep trouble. To make up an excuse for not being intimate with your husband is playing the devil's own game. Satan loves to deceive, and believe me - he is not concerned about deceiving most of the world - he has them right where he wants them. He is out to deceive God's sheep - solely!
Jesus said that the adversary never comes, but to steal, kill, and destroy. Well, think about it - he only steals that which has value, kills that which is alive, and destroys that which is established. There is no benefit to him to attack people who are already defeated - he attacks the believers.
I once heard a very powerful statement - Satan is not opposed to good morals; Satan is opposed to Jesus Christ! Think about that!
